The name Camp Misabe comes from the Algonquin-Anishinabeg legend of Misabe (sometimes known in English as Sasquatch or Bigfoot), who is seen by the Anishinabeg as a steward and protector of the land, the waters, and all of the biodiversity within. Camp Misabe is a land and culturally based campground with a unique focus on Algonquin language, cultural practices, ceremony, and way of life.
Our Main goal is for you to come and enjoy the land, disconnect from the overwhelming need to be connected to things like social media, the internet etc. and reconnect with yourself.
Come be one with the land and leave rejuvenated and connected to what colonialism has taken from us; the simple joys in life.

Tent camping on over 300 acres of land surrounding a pristine and private lake with nearby private access to the Riviere Desert. Our ancestors have always used what was on the lind, to live and to survive which is what we promote at Camp Misabe

Promoting healing and connection by sharing our philosophy of environmental stewardship, reciprocal living, and land-based learning in the Anishinaabe way.

Based in accordance with the four seasons, with traditional Anishinaabe teachings guiding the excursions, leisure opportunities, and education for guests. With some extra planning we can also book teaching with local knowledge keepers during your stay.

Our mission is to welcome our guests into our Algonquin-Anishinabe way of life through the sharing of the Algonquin language, cultural practices, and ceremony. Our guests will be immersed in our land- based approach which seeks to utilize the traditional ecological knowledge of community elders while staying at our pristine lakeside campground.
